We're learning through our district's professional development that Common Core State Standards need to be aligned to our old state standards. This means many things to many people, but the biggest thing is aligning existing classroom lessons, tests and materials. We found this workbook really handy

Also, we're reading that, at least at the high school level, the ACT tests are going to be a good way to get ready for new core exams.

I guess students listen to what teachers talk about. I heard a kid talking about
"those core things" the other day. I think it's good to use rubrics and testing
vocabulary in the classroom, it lets students know what teachers are talking
about all the time.
